The Fight
The Narrator doesn't react in a calm manner. He becomes a "smart mouth"and countered instantly with "You're not any too good-looking yourself,"
This caused the males both to await each others actions, Would they fight? Or would they walk away? It wasn't as simple for the narrator to walk away.
He needed to show people he wasn't the one to mess with because if he had just walked away he would get tested by a new kid everyday. He was ready and awaiting
the other kid. The Other kid in contrast couldn't let the new kid talk to him like that. Four inches from each others face and some offensive words later
someone pushes the kid into narrator and makes the tension even more dense. One push later the two boys are fighting. The narrator speaks of him having to fight furiously like a tiger so
people wouldn't ever mess with him again. He need to make the boy shed blood. The fight had ended in a draw. The other kid claimed to not be done with the narrator.
The narrator awaited the kid but he never showed up.
The narrator strikes fear into all the kids surrounding him. Due to suspicion about a ring that he is using as a weapon.
I believe the narrator overreacted in this situation. A physical reaction isn't always needed in order to win a battle. Sometimes people can use reasoning and logic in order
to get away from these problems. I would have reacted differently. I would have used logic and reasoning other than physicality.
This has happen to me many times before and to my friends. I will admit physical violence has been the answer to some of these problems but i must insist that using logic makes you feel more
accomplished. The narrator had no time to react in any other way but he did it as a sort of acceptance. Normally people don't need to fight in order to be accepted nore acknowlegde.
Acceptance is somethings people crave for and are willing to do anything for it. It's not always the right choice.
